Information on the Role of the PTSA Board
The fundamental role of the board is to govern. PTSA is a member-driven association. Members delegate power through bylaws. Much of the day-to-day work of a PTSA is done by its board. Boards are entrusted with the PTSA’s work by the members. The PTSA executive committee are elected positions voted on by it’s members.

PTSA Standing Committee & Special Committee Roles
Committees are a way to share the work. Committees are also a vital part of a PTSA that plan and promote the activities. Committees are designated in two ways:
- Standing committees are permanent. These committees conduct business year-round.
- Special committees conduct specific business on as needed basis. These committees are charged with a specific task and dissolve when the business they were charged to do is complete.
